At Bellows-Nichols Agency, maintaining our customers’ trust and confidence has always been a priority. Insurance agencies, like all other
providers of personal financial services, are now required by law to inform their clients of the agency’s policy regarding privacy of client
information. Below you will find an outline of measures we take to safeguard your non public personal information and how we may share that
information during the course of business in order to provide you with the quality of service you have come to expect from us.
Categories of Information Collected Information regarding your name, address, social security number, date of birth, etc. is obtained in
most instances directly from you, most often from an application, request for additional service or services you have purchased from us in
the past. Depending on the nature of your insurance transaction, we may need additional information from outside sources such as motor
vehicle reports, credit reports, court records, or other public records. We may send someone to inspect your property and verify information
regarding its value and condition, and a photo may be taken.
Categories of Information That May Be Shared With Others We may
share the above information along with any information contained in your policy and application with people who conduct transactions on your
behalf such as automobile dealers, mortgagees, lienholders, fiduciary parties (attorneys, accountants, auditors), claims adjusters and
parties administering transactions requested or authorized by you. By law, we are allowed to share information in limited situations, to
third parties necessary to effect, enforce and administer your insurance transactions in connection with servicing your account. The law
also allows you to choose not to have your non public personal information shared with third parties or obtained from third parties and
requires you to notify us in writing if this option is chosen. Information that we disclose to others is limited to those entities and that
information necessary for them to conduct business on your behalf; employees, law enforcement or governmental authorities, authorized
persons by law (in the case of power of attorney etc.), your carrier or potential carriers, parties that perform claims or fraud
investigation and parties who perform a professional business function that assists us in providing services to you.
How We Protect
Your Information Access to your personal information is restricted to personnel and industry entities that need this information in order
to transact your insurance business. In addition we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to insure confidentiality and to
comply with federal and state regulations protecting your privacy. We adhere to this level of confidentiality even when a customer
relationship no longer exists.
Sharing information internally or with business partners helps us to identify products and services
which might better serve your insurance needs. We greatly appreciate your business and the opportunity to continue to deliver the quality of
customer service you have come to rely on.
